COURSE CURRICULUM

The Safety Management Training Academy provides a comprehensive foundation into the science and application of the discipline of safety systems for current and future leaders in the air medical and critical care transport industry. Open to all disciplines, the goal of this two year program is to build a cadre of industry personnel with a broader knowledge and interest in all aspects of the management of safety across the entire enterprise of medical transportation- with special emphasis on safety management systems, patient safety, aviation/vehicle operational safety and workplace safety.

Attendees at SMTA will participate in four days of safety management training classes, followed by a culminating exam for Year 1 students and the MTSP-C exam and presentation of a culminating capstone project for Year 2 students.

  • The Policy & Regulatory Environment
  • A Hazard Identification & Analysis
  • Safety Education

2nd YEAR

  • Safety Strategy Development
  • Applying the Balanced Scorecard
  • Emergency Preparedness I & II
  • Project Management & Communications
  • Safety Culture 

At the completion of this course, the successful student will demonstrate knowledge of the fundamentals by which and through which safety is integrated in a given organization. Please contact meetings@aams.org for additional information.


*MTSP-C EXAM! 
All SMTA Year 2 students who complete the course will be given access to the MTSP-C Exam at no additional charge.  The exam will now be included in the SMTA tuition price.*
